R. John Wright has been producing artistic molded felt dolls since 1976. His early career in doll making was influenced by “STEIFF” the renowned German toy company.
In the mid-1950’s the imagination of the eight year old R. John Wright was captured by a new series of character dolls by Steiff. The felt bodied dolls featured broad smiling faces made of rubber. One of these characters was a jolly rendition of “Santa Claus”. Now R. John Wright Dolls has been granted permission by Steiff to produce Santa Claus for the first time ever with a molded felt face!
Standing 12” tall, Santa Claus is fully jointed.
The beard and moustache are of fine mohair.
He is clothed in his traditional red suit of felt trimmed with wool plush. His smiling face is hand painted.
An enchanting addition is an 18 note movement music box inside Santa’s torso. Which plays “Santa Claus is Coming to Town.”
Handcrafted at the R. John Wright Dolls workshop in Bennington, Vermont Santa Clause is a limited edition of 500 pieces worldwide. He comes enclosed in a deluxe presentation box with the accompanying signed and numbered certificate of authenticity and forms for owner registration.
This new interpretation of the 1953 Classic Steiff Santa Claus by R. John Wright Dolls, Inc. has been arranged under special agreement with “Margarete Steiff GmbH”.
